Aprotinin can inhibit trypsin and chymotrypsin, and prevent the activation of other active proteases in the pancreas and the self-activation of trypsinogen. It is clinically used to prevent and treat acute pancreatitis, hemorrhage caused by fibrinolysis and diffuse intravascular coagulation. It can also be used for anti-shock therapy. After abdominal surgery, direct injection into the abdominal cavity can prevent intestinal adhesions .
